C25K – W4D2

Well my joy of cooler morning runs hit a bump this morning as it was already steaming hot at 6am. Granted, it wasn’t as hot as it is right now (99°), but it was far from cool. Very humid too. Therefore today’s run was a little lackluster. Again I don’t know for sure the distance (just the time), so I don’t know how well I did against the prescribed distance  in the time intervals. I know for sure I felt weak towards the middle of the last 5 minute run. I have been using a stopwatch (together with the C25K app) to quickly see where I am during the intervals. I found myself looking too much during the last interval. I wanted it to just end…

I think I ran strong for the first three intervals, so I’m not disappointed. I think overall I’m better than I was last year–and last year I was able to achieve the goal of a 5K in under 30 minutes. Also I’m two months ahead at the same point in the program last year. I look forward to more 3 mile runs during September, October, and November–which hopefully I can carry through the winter.

I have stuck to every other day so far. Today I’m a little more sore and tired than I have been so far. Depending on the weather, I might impose an extra rest day this week. I’ll have to play it by ear.
